Creating a SAAS platform for businesses to increase their user-engagement
Evolv transforms the live event experience by offering a platform for event organizers to deploy gamified applications. These apps enable attendees to participate in various quests, earning points redeemable for rewards throughout the event. This approach not only enhances attendee satisfaction but also significantly boosts engagement and conversion metrics for organizers. Currently in closed beta, Evolv has secured contracts with over 30 brands and is projected to host events for more than 200,000 attendees in 2024.

In the last quarter of 2023, Evolv conducted five Proof of Concepts (POCs) at various music festivals across Southeast Asia. Our goal was to test whether attendees would use an application to complete quests and redeem rewards during a live event. Once we gathered data and confirmed that the concept was successful, the next step was to develop a robust platform to launch these applications.
This case study focuses on the core aspects of the platform. Since its inception, the platform has evolved, incorporating more features and functionalities.
Designing a completely new product from the ground up required minimizing guesswork to ensure the product matched customer expectations and was easy to use. Given that this was the company's core product, it was crucial to make well-informed, accountable decisions.
Understand the Target Audience
Having validated the core idea in the market, the next step was to develop a SaaS platform to support this concept.
Identify Desired Features
With specific plans for scaling, the initial focus was on strong business leads the company had already secured, rather than a broad audience.
Deliver a Minimum Viable Product
Identify the quickest product we could deliver that would satisfy the majority of our customers' needs.
The Challenge
How can I identify the core product features from the inputs received, evaluate their importance, and design a comprehensive solution that addresses all core business requirements and organizer pain points?

User Testing
Getting feedback on what has been designed
Once the designs and prototypes were ready, we reached out to the brands we had previously contacted for input, as well as new interested parties brought in by the CEO. We tested the designs and flows with these users during calls to understand their reactions and gather feedback on the platform.
Reflecting Back
Taking away the good and the bad
Reflecting on the project delivery, it was crucial to analyze both the successes and challenges. I spent time with the Product Manager to assess our performance and identify key takeaways for future projects as we continue the design and development of the platform.
Conclusion
This project highlighted the importance of prioritization, communication, and flexibility. By focusing on these principles, we delivered a core product for Evolv that meets the essential needs of organizers and attendees. This approach allowed for quick iterations and user-driven improvements, paving the way for future growth and success.
